Hong Kong’s ambitious urban development scheme to develop a 40 Ha cultural quarter in West Kowloon has moved a step forward. The Government has bowed to pressure and is proposing to split the contract among multiple developers. Under the plans, one lead developer will be allowed 50% of the work. This is expected to encompass Foster and Partners ‘umbrella’ canopy (illustrated). The project will include museums, theatres, shops and apartment blocks.
