Rooms with a view

Warm elements such as Ipe wood and South American stone are used throughout this striking home overlooking Downtown Miami in Florida

Designed by award-winning Miami-based architects, Choeff Levy Fischman, Casa Ischia is a two-story residence inspired by sweeping waterfront vistas and mid-century modern design. The rear of the home provides a resort-style living environment with expansive floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that pocket and disappear allowing for uninterrupted views of Biscayne Bay and Downtown Miami. An open floor plan allows for indoor-outdoor living from almost any room in the home both downstairs and upstairs including the dwelling’s seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and two powder rooms.

Warm elements such as Ipe wood and South American stone are used throughout the home to create a warmer environment in the mostly modern structure. Many of Casa Ischia’s interior walls are made up of limestone, adding a unique texture to the home. Structural elements were kept thin, and exterior faces were designed to be as wide open as possible in order to maximize views of Biscayne Bay.

The exterior of the home features a trending mid-century-inspired sunken living room that sits beneath the level of the pool. Located between the pool and outdoor covered terrace that houses a summer kitchen with stone backsplash, dining and lounge area, the space makes for an interesting social space. The pool and spa with steps designed to face the Downtown Miami skyline are just steps away. Touches of stained South American Ipe and limestone decking create a warm, yet somewhat monochromatic aesthetic, contrasting nicely with iridescent blue tiles used in the pool and spa. The use of bright blue sets the pool apart from the rest of the exterior.

The interior space measures 10,448 square feet with an attached 761-square-foot three-car garage suite, and a 783-square-foot rooftop space for entertaining.
