Moxon are to create a striking new studio in a disused quarry in the Scottish Highlands
Moxon has received planning approval for a new studio in a disused quarry deep in the Scottish Highlands in the UK. Blending with the stunning terrain, it’s a studio of two halves, allowing for private study and creative contemplation as well as the more social and collaborative side of architecture. The two premises are then connected by a covered walk that provides a sheltered space to enjoy the unique wooded surroundings.
Poised to become the main headquarters for Moxon, who also have premises in London, the facility uses a combination of finishes to establish visual hierarchy and define the building structure. The studio proposal also includes over sailing roofs, a combination of planted meadow and metal pitches, to reference the distinctive architecture of this rural area.
