The winners of the Sunday Times British Home Awards were announced at a ceremony in central London yesterday

The Sunday Times British Homes Awards 2017 are run by Haymarket Media Group who also own sister awards brands the WAN Awards and WIN Awards. The awards recognise the talent, effort and innovation of architects, designers, housebuilders, affordable housing providers and developers working across the residential property sector today. They celebrate the quality of the homes and communities being created in the UK, showcasing the best in design to key players in the property market and central and local government.

The 2017 Awards were judged by an independent panel, which includes designers, developers and industry experts, with the winners being announced at a ceremony in central London yesterday… View all the Winners of the 2017 BHA Awards here.

Award categories span the range of UK residential development activity, from the one-off house and the historic building restoration to large scale urban development and placemaking. Categories recognise design quality across diverse markets, including affordable rented, first time buyer, volume, retirement, student accommodation and build to rent. New categories have been introduced to broaden the reach and recognition of the awards.

Also featuring in the awards ceremony was the Manser Medal which was won by 'House' in Coombe Park in Kingston. The medal is widely recognised as the hallmark of excellence in contemporary one-off home design. Finally, the concept home design competition continues to promote design innovation to address UK housing’s biggest challenges. The competition brief gives architects the opportunity to explore fresh design responses that have the potential to influence the housing mainstream.

The WAN Awards are the world's largest international architectural awards programme that helps projects of all sizes reach a wider global audience. We have four new categories that are currently open for entries...

Within the Social Housing category we are looking for multi-occupancy residential builds, from apartment blocks to University campuses. Resort Complex is targetted at International Resort Complexes. Submissions can be of any size, budget, scale and proportion. The Best MMC Project is focused on innovation and new technology applied to projects from BIM through offsite manufacture, modular units, 3D printing and mechanised installation techniques and many more. Finally, within the Best Bridge category we are looking for the best examples of completed bridges across any category whether it is rail, road, pedestrian etc.
