London-based practice Ron Arad Architects have unveiled designs for ToHA, a major new scheme that will transform central Tel Aviv
Designed by Ron Arad Architects with Yashar Architects as executive architects this large-scale office development, a joint venture between two large investment and development companies, involves the conversion of a rarely available 1.8 hectare city-centre site in Tel Aviv, Israel. The finished project will combine two office towers with an area in excess of 160,000 sq m, extensive commercial facilities and a generous landscaped public space, across three levels.
The office towers (28, and 63 storeys respectively) are sculpted to complement the varied site constraints, maximise solar shading, while facilitating access to natural daylight for every desk within the generous office floors.
The buildings are elevated upon slim core structures within the densely planted landscape. With a minimal footprint, these ‘legs’ contain the majority of the building’s innovative technical plant, which enables the creation of a generous public space on the roof.
Construction of the 60,000 sq m phase one building commenced in 2013, and is due to be completed in late 2018.
