Set out as two small volumes one of the main objectives of this project is to preserve as much of the surrounding landscape as possible

The Røldal family vacation home designed by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter AS in Norway is recognisable for its compact, defined and geometric shape. Perched on a Norwegian hillside, it allows the residents to feel at one with nature.

The objective of preserving as much of the surrounding landscape as possible was a high priority and resulted in the design of two volumes: a small cabin and an annex, that keep a dialogue with the encompassing nature of the area. Dividing the structures also gives the overall project a high degree of flexibility and accommodates different family compositions in separate spaces.

The articulated section of the development is adapted to the steep terrain and is assigned to create interconnected floors and capture the views of both the surrounding forest and the hillside.
