A penthouse scheme is emerging in one of London’s most prestigious areas
London’s Mayfair is one of the most expensive property hotspots in the world and it is here that Studio Seilern Architects (SSA) is designing a new residential penthouse scheme above an existing office building. The new design comprises of 12 units with full height windows and a sunken garden pavilion at roof level.
Good floor to ceiling heights are matched with generous window sizes. As a result, the design facilitates good day lighting, ventilation and a sense of well-being.
In addition, higher floor to ceiling height can contribute to the flexibility and sustainability of the building, allowing for residents take on the use in the future.
The concept of the penthouse is that of a sunken garden with a light structure of louvres and perimetral skylight which allows light to penetrate the penthouse units. The 1 m wide louvres keep the glass in place and they give the option of integrating planters positioned at different heights.
