A new design competition for Gallaudet University, USA launches in September

As the world's only liberal arts university for deaf and hard of hearing students, Gallaudet University, in Washington, D.C., is the preeminent centre of deaf experience, research and culture.  A new design competition for the historic core of the Gallaudet campus and adjacent public realm, organised by Malcolm Reading Consultants, will launch in September 2015.

Catherine Reading, MRC communications director, said: “What’s particularly enticing for European architects is the opportunity to design in the centre of Washington, D.C., for an extremely interesting client. Gallaudet is doing pioneering work in ‘DeafSpace’ – a design approach that emerges from, and is expressive of deaf experience – which will make this a fascinating project.

Interested architects and designers are invited to visit https://competitions.malcolmreading.co.uk/gallaudet to sign up and receive notification of competition launch.

WAN Business Information published this competition to its subscribers 11th of August 2015. If you are looking for global project leads and competitions, contact our team for a free trial tenders@builtenvironmentmedia.com
