FARRELLS LAUNCHES HISTORIC CHELSEA WATERFRONT DEVELOPMENT

Cheung Kong Property Holdings (formerly Hutchison Whampoa Properties Ltd) has announced the release of the first apartments for sale at Chelsea Waterfront, a development designed by Farrells.

The eight acre site takes in the former Lots Road Power Station, which with its twin chimneys, stands as one of Chelsea’s best loved landmark buildings. Chelsea Waterfront is the last remaining significant river fronting site on the north bank of the Thames between Chelsea and the city. When complete, the scheme will comprise ten buildings in total including two stand-out towers either side of Chelsea Creek and will be the first development of this scale on London’s north bank, in Chelsea, for 100 years. Apartments will have wide reaching views taking in a stretch of river that extends from Chelsea in the West to Canary Wharf in the East.

Due to complete in 2019, Chelsea Waterfront will provide 706 new homes.

Commenting on Chelsea Waterfront, Edmond Ho of Cheung Kong Property Holdings said:

“We are delighted to be bringing the first phase of Chelsea Waterfront to the market. This is a prime location in one of the foremost cities in the world. In working with Sir Terry Farrell we are bringing the very best in contemporary living to create a landmark development which seamlessly blends London’s heritage with cutting edge architecture and design.”

Farrells Partner, Max Farrell commented: “Chelsea Waterfront is a landmark project for London, delivering world class architecture on an important brownfield site and providing much needed new housing for the capital. The two residential towers have been designed to frame the iconic power station and the mouth of the re-generated Chelsea creek.”

Chartwell House and Claydon House, set in landscaped gardens with breathtaking views along the river to Battersea and Chelsea Bridges, are the first apartments to come to market. Named after two English country houses renowned for their stunning gardens, Chartwell House and Claydon House will comprise 82 apartments ranging from one bedroom flats to five bedroom penthouses.

Chartwell House and Claydon House will sit alongside the iconic Lots Road Power Station which is to be converted and refurbished into 260 apartments. Retail units including a signature waterside restaurant, cafes and stylish shops will line an imposing 100m long mall which will run the length of the power station’s ground floor.

Three new bridges spanning Chelsea Creek will link the power station to water gardens designed by one of Britain’s leading landscape architects, Randle Siddeley Associates.
