New animation showcases dune-inspired HQ for Bee’ah in UAE

A new animation taking us on a virtual tour around Bee’ah’s new Headquarters building in Sharjah – designed by Zaha Hadid Architects – has been released. Bee’ah, one of the Middle East’s leading integrated environmental and waste management companies, collaborated with MIR Creative Studios and the architect to produce the footage of the sand dune-inspired designs.

According to a press release issued by Zaha Hadid Architects, Bee’ah “is converting waste from being something that is a consumptive by-product of society to something that can be core to society’s future…The company’s new Headquarters embodies these principles by providing an administrative centre of sustainable construction of LEED Platinum Certification”.

Bee’ah’s new offices have been informed by their desert context as a series of dunes orientated to optimise the prevailing Shamal winds and give its interiors high quality daylight and views, whilst limiting the quantity of glazing exposed to the harsh sun.

The two central dunes of the Headquarters building intersect and connect via a courtyard - an ‘oasis’ inside the building enhancing natural ventilation and maximising indirect sunlight to the spaces within.

The building systems of the new Headquarters have been developed to minimise both the energy required for cooling and the need for potable water consumption. Its structure reduces material consumption through architectural and structural integration, as well as recycled material recovery.

The new building and site will also be used as a learning resource to demonstrate practical environmental awareness to the wider community.
