Shanghai Planners eye up London waterfront developments as New Bund development moves into gear
Following the WAD14 Preview Party at the Waterhouse Hotel in Shanghai earlier this month, WAN is pleased to announce the support of Mr. He, Managing Director of Shanghai International Shipping Service Centre Development Co. Ltd and Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal Co. Limited, for this year’s WAD14 summit in Shanghai. As well as his role at Franshion, a developer of large-scale and high end commercial real-estate projects, Mr. He is also the Executive Director and Vice President of Franshion Properties (China) Ltd.
Mr. He and a group of colleagues from the Shanghai Planning Bureau visited London this week and WAN Editor in Chief Michael Hammond and Commercial Director Rachel Booth accompanied them on a tour of the latest Southbank developments, concluding at the highest viewing platform in London, The View from The Shard.
“We are delighted to be partnering with WAD14 for this year’s summit on urban mobility," said Mr. He. "Following on from our successful meetings with the WAD team in Shanghai earlier this month and a very interesting trip to London, which included a tour of the waterfront developments including Neo Bankside, the Tate Modern extension and The Shard with our delegation of Shanghai city planners, we are very pleased that a crucial part of the WAD programme will take place at the Shanghai International Cruise Terminal and look forward to welcoming delegates in November from around the world.”
Michael Hammond responded: “We are passionate about the issues being addressed at WAD14 in Shanghai and are delighted to have Mr He and Franshion on board. Their Shanghai International Cruise Terminal (SICT) and extensive influence in major developments aligns perfectly with both our transport and commercial agendas.”
Speaking from the top of the Shard, he continued: “Renzo Piano’s London Bridge Quarter with its iconic Shard tower has been the catalyst for redefining Southbank as one of London’s new hotspots… and as a pioneer for the vertical city concept. WAD14 will provide an international platform for our architect delegates to exchange visions and concepts with influential city leaders, developers and planners.”
The afternoon of the first day of WAD14 will be held at the Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal, the first completed phase to set the tone for the emerging 2km-long ‘New Bund of Shanghai’, in partnership with Mr. He who will be helping us to transform the space into the perfect venue for our afternoon of seminars and activities and our first evening reception.
