Chicago-based JAHN celebrates opening of its Cosmopolitan Twarda 2/4 in Warsaw
The Cosmopolitan Twarda 2/4 luxury residential units are now open. The building is designed by the Chicago-based architecture firm JAHN and is the first structure in Poland for the firm. The Cosmopolitan Twarda 2/4 is 160m high, with 44 floors, and has 236 fully furnished apartments. Floor areas range from 54 to 380 sq m for one- to two-bedroom units and the penthouses are up to 480 sq m.
On the ground floor is a commercial and service area, and floors 1-3 are dedicated to office space. The fourth floor, which is shared by residents, is the entertainment floor, consisting of a fitness club with a fully equipped gym including the latest equipment, a sauna, a jacuzzi and a massage room, meeting rooms, and a club room.
Cosmopollitan Twarda 2/4 is a significant building on a urban scale for the City of Warsaw. The concept is formally simple and elegant, yet technically advanced and environmentally responsible bringing a fresh look to the city centre. The goals of the project were to create an urban landmark at the end of Emilii Plater Street and establish a relationship with the new high rises being built along the road.
It was important to maintain the low street-front walls on the north and south sides of Twarda Street, which lead into Plac Grzybowski and interconnect with the historical buildings. This also establishes a connection through the site from Twarda Street to exhibit the historical Jewish Theater, the Nozykow Synagogue and the Jewish Society Building.
Michal Borowski, president of Tacit Development Polska JS Sp. z o.o. s.k. referred to the Cosmopolitan in a recent interview, saying: “Of course you cannot ignore the ingenious architecture designed by Helmut Jahn. The building is a very attractive alternative for those who want exceptional living in the heart of downtown Warsaw and who value privacy yet want to be in a place where they can feel their money is well invested.”
The apartments are sold furnished and equipped with interiors and custom furnishings by local firm de novo. Each unit has floor-to-ceiling windows providing a stunning panoramic view of Warsaw and is fitted with an integrated Home Monitoring System (HMS) controlled by residents using key pads and mobile devices that allow each resident to set custom settings for temperatures, blinds, lighting, music, and TV sets.
