Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects-designed 530,000 sq ft office development destined for Dallas
A groundbreaking ceremony has been held to mark the beginning of construction of the McKinney & Olive commercial complex in Uptown Dallas, Texas. Designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects with Kendall/Heaton Associates as executive architect and Office of James Burnett as landscape architect, the 530,000 sq ft development is office-led with a 50,000 sq ft retail component.
Cesar Pelli commented: “I believe Dallas is in the process of coalescing and becoming a great city. We’re very happy to build McKinney & Olive in Uptown, which we consider the most vibrant and elegant piece of Dallas. We believe our building will contribute to the strength of its character and make Uptown a richer, more interesting place.”
Designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, the project boasts ‘480,000 sq ft of Dallas’ finest office space’, with typical floor size measuring 25,000-30,000 rentable sq ft. Texas-based law firm Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP has already confirmed that it will be leasing 109,000 sq ft across four floors of this 20-storey tower.
Anchoring the structure to the street will be just less than an acre of hardscape and landscape designed by Office of James Burnett. This area will be dotted with mature trees and street furniture, encouraging the public to populate and ultimately animate the space.
