15,000 sq m retail facility by Benoy to support Hsin Chu High Speed Rail Station
Benoy is building on its growing presence in Taiwan with a 15,000 sq m retail facility for the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation. The scheme has been unveiled following a February contract signing and depicts a low density commercial scheme that integrates sustainable design elements throughout.
Hsin Chu Station Mall will be constructed on a 30,000 sq m site directly connected to the Hsin Chu High Speed Rail Station to support users of the infrastructure node and provide additional amenities to the community of Hsin Chu and the surrounding residential developments.
In line with the Taiwan High Speed Rail’s vision for a green development, Benoy has incorporated a number of sustainable elements throughout, including sun shading, green roof insulation, rain water collection, grey water recycling, solar power and sustainable building materials.
Wisely Suen, Senior Associate Director at Benoy said of the design: “The North-East angled plots act to mitigate the windy climate and we have drawn the landscape up to the roof of the low-rise retail buildings to create multi-functional green spaces.
“The three-dimensional retail experience has essentially preserved a large portion of the landscape for the users. The green slope design will be accessible from ground level and transformed into outlets for dining, restaurants and entertainment. The landscaped scheme will also feature an amphitheatre and eight cinema houses alongside the retail offer.”
