Rippled facade comprised of 'cloud-like' elements defines J. Mayer. H's latest project
J. Mayer. H und Partner Architekten has unveiled renderings of a new healthcare and residential scheme on a historic hospital site in Dusseldorf, Germany. The project is a 70m-tall mixed-use building with 14 levels dedicated to residential units in a 19-storey tower. These private residences will vary in size and floor plan depending on the location of the given unit.
Arguably the most striking feature of the RKM 740 scheme is its dynamic façade, composed of a series of ‘cloud-shaped’ elements. These jagged edges run in horizontal strips across the exterior of the building, varying in size to further animate its exterior face. Planted terraces and balconies add colour and improve the microclimate for the comfort and enjoyment of building users.
