First residences in £1.6bn regeneration of Elephant & Castle unveiled by dRMM
Lend Lease, the integrated property and infrastructure group, has announced the global launch of its residential development Trafalgar Place which is due for completion in summer/autumn 2015. In the heart of central London, a prime Zone 1 area, the drmm-designed development includes 235 homes over 7 contemporary buildings ranging from 4 to 10 storeys.
It is hoped that this tranquil urban development will lead the way for green living in the heart of the city with each studio, one, two and three bedroom home having a range of innovative and environmentally sustainable features and either a garden, terrace or balcony.
From the higher floors residents will have stunning views looking north across the city whilst lower floors have fine views of green spaces or tree-lined streets. This landscaped idyll will feature a woodland walk, a rain pool water feature, a garden square and al fresco café for residents and local community to enjoy.
The development is designed by award winning architects de Rijke Marsh Morgan (dRMM) with interiors by internationally recognised interior designers Woods Bagot. The generous interior layouts will also showcase what can be achieved through the latest sustainable design and building practices.
Each home will feature energy-efficient lighting, heating and water recovery systems, better insulation and ventilation including air purification systems. The homes will be 30% more energy efficient than current regulations require and use 30% less water than the average London household, which will save residents money on their energy and water bills.
Mark Dickinson, Lend Lease, and Managing Director of Development - EMEA said: “Trafalgar Place will provide the first new homes to be completed as part of the £1.5bn regeneration of Elephant & Castle, driven by Lend Lease in partnership with Southwark Council. The regeneration is gathering real momentum and will unlock the area’s potential with almost 3,000 new homes, as well as new parks, shops and improved transport taking shape over the next 12-15 years.
“With the transformation of this well connected part of central London and Lend Lease’s commitment to building vibrant and sustainable living spaces, we are confident of the investment opportunity these residences offer.”
