Glistening golden residences by HOK submitted for planning to Camden Council
A planning application has been submitted to Camden Council for the 30,000 sq ft 8-storey development which comprises 22 one, two and three bedroom apartments. The development will sit above the Fisher Street shaft - a single storey structure in Holborn that provides ventilation and access to the below ground Crossrail tunnels.
The scheme has been designed by architects HOK and is located between the conservation areas of Bloomsbury and Kingsway, bordering an eight storey Grade II listed building on Southampton Row. The scheme has been designed in consultation with the London Borough of Camden and English Heritage. Its striking architecture has been carefully designed to ensure the upper levels are set back, leaving space between the new development and the existing listed building. The plans will incorporate the ground floor Crossrail shaft while creating a unique exterior that offers different views of the building from each angle.
The Fisher Street scheme is the latest over-site development submitted for planning consent by Crossrail. A total of 3 million square feet of office, retail and residential space is planned above new Crossrail stations and sites in London with planning consent secured for nearly 1 million sq ft of development so far. These developments will help create new business space, jobs and new homes for Londoners on top of the world-class new transport links Crossrail is delivering
Crossrail has entered into a number of Collaboration Agreements with existing landowners to deliver over-site developments. Once the planning process for the Fisher Street site has been completed, Crossrail will begin procuring a development partner for the Fisher Street scheme. Construction work on the Fisher Street shaft is already well underway and is expected to be completed in 2015.
