What to expect from the Green Deal workshop at BAU 2013...
As the WAN Product of the Year Award Shortlist is unveiled, we can reveal that the award will be presented to a worthy winner by an official representative of Great Britain (to be announced at a later date) at BAU 2013 in Munich. More details coming shortly….
Next year BAU will focus on issues of sustainability, with an engaging workshop scheduled on 17 January (in English) entitled ‘GREEN DEAL - Energy Efficiency in the UK’. The Green Deal is an initiative instigated by the UK Government which offers homeowners the opportunity to make energy-saving home improvements at no upfront cost.
The scheme goes into action this October and will enable energy efficiency assessments with the opportunity to apply for financing up to £10,000 in 2013 to go towards making residences more eco-friendly.
The Green Deal is intended to reduce carbon emissions cost effectively by revolutionising the energy efficiency of British properties. Research indicates that these are responsible for around 25% of the UK’s annual emissions. Introduced by the Energy Act 2011, the Green Deal is designed to drive a competitive and enduring market for energy efficiency.
Under the scheme, energy efficiency measures will be funded by savings on a consumer’s electricity bill, with no upfront cost to them. This presents a whole variety of new investment opportunities for German companies in the British market.
The five-hour workshop at BAU in January will be run by UK Trade & Investment, in co-operation with the con|energy agentur. The event provides companies and communities with an opportunity to learn more about the respective investment opportunities, conditions, and support schemes.
