Loampit Vale development plays a key part of the regeneration of Lewisham Town Centre
Assael, as masterplanners and architects, have designed a mixed-use residential scheme consisting of carefully designed buildings and landscaping to enhance the surrounding area and create contemporary and sustainable living.
The 1.7-hectare site in South London has 788 private dwellings made up of private and affordable apartments, and town houses with additional units for shops and creative studios on the ground floor. It also includes a new state-of-the-art Community Leisure Centre, which has been developed in collaboration with LA Architecture.
An impressive tower makes up the private accommodation within the design, incorporating duplex-glazed apartments on the top floors. Attention has been paid to maximising the number of green outdoor spaces by using landscaped roof terraces with panoramic views across the London skyline as well as resident garden areas. Currently Phase 1 has been implemented, delivering buildings A, B, C, releasing 184 apartments, also an energy centre, creative industry studios and public plaza with child play space.
Phase 2 is partially completed, consisting of buildings F and G delivering 407 apartments, commercial space and London City Mission. Phase 3 has commenced and will consist of building D and E, delivering 5 maisonettes, 11 town houses that achieve code for sustainable homes level 6, and 181 apartments. The vision is to create an environmentally sustainable place, made possible through a complementary mix of uses, transportation, landscape, building form and design, energy, materials, water and waste management.
The Renaissance site is based upon the aspirations for a place that promotes health, fitness and wellbeing, which have influenced the key urban design and architectural objectives. The aim is to transform Loampit Vale into a processional route to Lewisham Town Centre and be influential as part of a of the ongoing renaissance of the town.
