Langdon Wilson International's new acute care hospital raises the bar for healthcare in Jordan
Located in the northern part of the city of Aqaba, in the Special Economic Zone, Prince Hashim bin Abdullah II Hospital will be an icon of health and wellness in the region. The site area is approximately 150,000 sq m and square-like in shape, nestled at the tip of the Red Sea.
The project, currently under construction, is comprised of a General Hospital with 250+ Inpatient Beds. The Diagnostic & Treatment and Outpatient facilities cover over 15 medical disciplines including Surgery, Dialysis, Dental Clinic, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Burn Unit, Cardiac Care, Emergency and much more. They are supported with a complete set of Service Buildings and Technical Support Facilities which include a dedicated Central Plant, Water Tank, Medical Gas Building and Engineering Workshops.
The project is part of a regional comprehensive and economic development plan to provide new levels of health care for Jordanian citizens. The Hospital is designed in a circular plan with the Main Hospital at the centre. The Diagnosis and Treatment block is centrally located, nestled in the curvature of the 'spine' element. The spine sweeps between the Inpatient and Treatment blocks to create a fluid circulation for visitors and staff, and sets the backdrop for the Inpatient rooms. The patient rooms have a soothing view of the Red Sea, enhancing healing and well-being of the Inpatients.
The blend of rectilinear local sandstone facades and soft aluminum curves creates a modern hospital, incorporating the traditional, the cultural, and the environmentally sensible into a single cohesive architectural statement. This project displays the vision of Jordan's continued commitment to provide the highest standard of healthcare and facilities in the region.
As a gateway building to the entry of Aqaba, Prince Hashim bin Abdullah II Military Hospital will serve as the gateway to the future of healthcare in Jordan and beyond.
