Ben Marshall explains World Architecture News' recruitment 'one stop shop'
As with many other facets of the architectural and design industry, the recruitment world is slowly showing signs of growth. In recent years the nervousness of both practices looking to recruit and professionals who are looking for a new role has been palpable. This is indubitably being gradually replaced by more job opportunities becoming available, and not only in specific regions, and more applications for those positions.
At World Architecture News and World Interior News we are constantly assessing the impact and strength of our services, and our industry-specific jobs boards are no different. This positive navel-gazing has culminated in an exciting and ambitious plan to become the international ‘one stop shop’ for recruitment of architects, designers and other built environment professionals.
The WAN and WIN audience are incredibly diverse, not only in terms of location but also training and background. However, our recruitment pages have not accurately reflected this. To right this imbalance we are currently collating job vacancies from a plethora of our global sources to select the right mix for our readers and subscribers.
To pave our way towards our ‘one stop shop’ target, for a limited period, we are displaying a select number of jobs from architects, designers and other creative practices free on the World Architecture News and Interiors sites.
We have the unrivalled ability to fully integrate job postings with news and editorial throughout the site creating an incredibly effective way of raising a company’s profile and linking HR and PR activities. This makes WAN Jobs uniquely placed to help recuiters reach the very best talent, not just those actively job-hunting via our jobs section. What better advert is there for a practice to be seen to have won a new tender, competition or completed a project and to be hiring for new talent?
WAN is the world’s largest architectural publisher with 230,000 subscribers, has the world’s largest architecture awards with 1,300 entries (2011) and the most comprehensive tender service for architects (used by over 30% of the top 100 firms). Since joining the team I have taken it as a personal challenge to bring the same level of success to recruitment.
Check out the Jobs section of the WAN site to see if you can spot more of some of the changes we are making to recruitment.
