A more recent thread of sustainable exploration is their cultural and social consideration ensuring that clients and users are mutual beneficiaries of their designed environments with an environmental and sustainable consciousness. inFORM studio offices embrace their core philosophy as much as any project. Projects are about the people that inhabit them, a workplace that blends and is made stronger by the diverse personalities and cultures represented; with equal attention given to quality of light, atmosphere, air quality, energy conservation, and adaptive re-use of an old automotive factory celebrating the industrial heritage.
The AADL Traverwood Library is a benchmark project for the consideration of the suburban library, and an integrated approach to sustainability. The new library engages the street edge while preserving the wooded environment it protects. On-street and underground parking further preserve the natural features of the site and activate the community around it. The design team assisted the owner in securing a $30,000 grant for the reuse of diseased ash trees that are utilised throughout the construction of the new library, pioneering sustainable techniques of recycled content.
Effigy Studios created an exceptional collaboration with technical experts in the multifaceted field of acoustics that resulted in one of the nation's premier live recording studios which is currently owned and operated by Detroit Rap Artist, Eminem. The technical complexities of electrical, mechanical and isolation systems were seamlessly integrated into a morphology that is a direct interpretation of how sound operates in an optimal condition. Material investigations into a binary diffusive acoustical panel have become the first implementation of a wall system of this type.
