NBBJ - Scott Wyatt, Managing Partner

NBBJ is experiencing revenue growth in 2011 over 2010. China and Korea continue to be strong in most building types, particularly commercial and corporate; we are seeing Russia’s commercial and corporate markets coming back; and we are also experiencing opportunities in institutional work (healthcare, science and education) in the Middle East. Business for NBBJ in the UK has been strong in healthcare and science and education last year and this year. This year we are seeing growth in corporate and commercial opportunities. The change in the US is the increase in corporate business and the beginning of a comeback for commercial in some US cities.

In 2011 we see increased interest in value over commodity. Our clients are more often viewing design as a strategic business tool, with expectations for building performance and heightened human productivity. The expectation is for high research rigor and proofs of concept at early stages of design. Key areas of interest on building performance include: energy use, carbon contribution, elimination of the use of red list materials, zero waste, speed, flexibility. Design that focuses on the human experience continues to gain importance with our clients. And the expectation is for measurable results in: productivity, innovation, collaboration, workplace flexibility, health and recruiting performance.
