SPARCH-designed installations herald Malaysia’s first 4G wireless broadband network launch in Lot 10 mall, Kuala Lumpur
International architect SPARCH’s installations took centre stage when YTL Communications launched Malaysia’s first nationwide converged 4G mobile Internet service called ‘Yes’ in Lot 10 shopping mall, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday, 19 November 2010.
SPARCH was commissioned by YTL Communications to transform the interior of Lot 10 into a flagship Yes store that serves the dual purpose of a sales platform for Yes package services and a public attraction to immerse visitors and shoppers in an interactive 4G experience. The store enables shoppers to browse and interact with the Yes products in an environment that is not confined like a shop.
To further enhance the experience, a series of cascading LED cubes spanning from the ground floor to the top level of the atrium inside the mall provide a welcoming symmetry to the theme of the product launch.
The exterior of the shopping mall has also been reworked by SPARCH to offer greater visual access, and a dedicated event space was created to house a multimedia LED cube functioning as a product beacon for the Yes brand. Speaking at the launch, YTL’s Managing Director Tan Sri Francis Yeoh said: “This is an ambitious task for us as we wanted to create a campaign that resonates throughout the country. SPARCH’s designs will help to inspire Malaysians to adopt the Internet at a faster rate.”
SPARCH’s Principal and Design Director, Stephen Pimbley said: “SPARCH is honoured to have our designs grace the launch of this watershed moment in Malaysian’s telecommunications history. We are delighted that our installations have been well-received by shoppers and have helped them identify with the Yes brand and this technological revolution.”
