Piers Gough of CZWG architects to lecture in Tripoli
Piers Gough, WAN AWARDS Juror and Senior Partner at London-based architecture practice CZWG, will give a 90 minute lecture entitled Rigorous Optimism at Al-Fateh University in Tripoli on 17th October 2010.
Widely known for its bold and imaginative architecture across the full spectrum of sectors, CZWG have built up an impressive reputation for turning derelict and degenerative city centres into inclusive, regenerative projects, which will form the basis of the upcoming lecture. Keen to share this expertise in Libya, the firm is currently reviewing key developments with a view to offering guidance on identifying the critical factors for successful masterplanning and regeneration.
Piers Gough explains: "Sometimes the scale of decay in a city is such that regeneration requires a completely new organisational framework for entire sections of the urban fabric. This kind of masterplanning needs a broad range of skills - from bold planning strategies, engineering and infrastructure design to sensitive architectural frameworks within which others who follow can work."
The Rigorous Optimism lecture takes place at 1pm in the Kaabazi lecture theatre, Al-Fateh University, Sidy Almasry, Al Furnaj Road, Tripoli, Libya. There will be an opportunity for informal conversation afterwards and refreshments will be provided. For further information please contact Jacky Jubert, CZWG Architects LLP.
