Stylish new bar offers panoramic views of Portugese capital
Silk Club occupies the rooftop of a building located in one of the more dynamic and charismatic neighbourhoods, for its cultural heritage, of Lisbon's historical centre Chiado.
The uniqueness of the space, distributed by two floors and a terrace, with a 270º view over Lisbon, required a deep rehabilitation for the transformation of a degraded space into a sophisticated and modern private night club.
The architects took advantage of the intricate and difficult configuration of the building; the areas were moulded in order to create a space system, flowing in its articulation, allowing a dynamic view between the different functional areas and making possible the creation of differentiated environments, taking advantage of each spacial formal specificities.
SILVA DIAS Arquitectos tried to associate, without contradiction, serenity to this dynamic, which is given by both its spacial clarity and composition accuracy, and by the sights framework, the central element of the project.
There is a call to sensory effects, both in shaping the space and in the choice and application of materials, which in turn is reflected in the organisation of space.
In the hierarchy of 'element actors' that make up the set, the architects highlight the bar as the protagonist, where the sloping ceiling composed of a chequered golden mesh, occasionally backlit, dips on the counter.
An external area completes the Silk Club, with a deck where one can enjoy comfortably the exquisite view over Lisbon and Tagus river.
