Introducing the Eco Den

Eco Den is the latest product from Alternative Space, a UK family business specialising in eco-friendly garden rooms. With ‘don’t move, improve’ the new mantra of the credit crunch, Eco Den allows you to extend your living accommodation with less cost to the environment and your pocket.

The largest Eco Den comes in at below £14,000.00 (excluding VAT). The price includes footings and installation, as well as thoughtful details such as timber Venetian blinds and internal decoration using Auro natural paint, plus for the risk-averse, smoke alarm, an intruder alarm and a fire extinguisher.

There are also a number of additional options available from a pergola and decking to rainwater harvesting system. One option, that is positively encouraged, is the addition of a living roof. The sedum ‘carpet’ improves thermal efficiency whilst providing a verdant outlook for you and your neighbours with the added attraction of more vegetation for the birds and bees.

Eco Den is built to last. It is constructed from super insulated wood panels, breathable damp proof membranes and high specification double or quadruple glazing, The roof is protected by an impermeable, one piece outer membrane with a manufacturer’s guarantee of 50 years. The exterior is clad in tongue and grooved cedar, a durable hardwood. All structural elements are pressure treated ensuring a life span in excess of 20 years.

Paul Marsden says, "After more than 20 years working in the design industry it's great to design and build a product which brings together my knowledge of 'green' building technology and experience in furniture design and production. A real bonus for me is working with my sons, who bring their own design and craft skills to the company. Between us we have developed a family business we can be proud of, with an emphasis on quality and a personal approach."
