Modern shapes rising on the Petrela Castle hill

This house is situated in Petrela village, 20 km from Tirana on the southern face of the Petrela Castle hill. The territory is 1100 sq m and the terrain is very inclined. A very special element of this territory are the olive trees, which are a centenary old. One of the main objectives for this project was the preservation of the trees and territory as much as it's possible.

The car garage is situated right at the lowest level of the terrain and next to it, is situated the main gate. The connection between the gate and the main entrance of the house is made possible by the stairs and ramp that climbs up the hill. On the left side of the plot is situated a pool for everyone to enjoy.

The house is approximately 100 sq m each floor. The ground floor acting as a zone for daily functions consisting of the living area, kitchen, dining room, bathroom and also a cellar. The living area benefits from a view of the whole terrain including the hills around. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one master bedroom with bathroom inside, another bathroom and a studio. The staircase climbs out to the terrace making it a very interesting place to enjoy the panorama. The plan of the house shows a dynamic shape which is reflected in the exterior of the house. The exterior is composed by simple geometric volumes that interact together, giving a sense of movement in the facade. The materials used on the facade are plaster stucco and porcelain tiles.
