I love the look and feel of the project already. However, I thought I would point out that the road to the left, if facing the East elevation (presumably that is what is shown and referred to) is actually a small alley and not a major roadway as illustrated (unless the project is gong to go all away across to Lincoln Road and incorporate the property that the current home of the symphony is on). The East West facing road running just parallel with I assume the North facing side elevation of the new building would be to the right side across from the Jackie Gleason Performing Arts Theater and 17th Street.. New World Symphony commission Frank Gehry for €multi-million Miami project

The New World Symphony have commissioned renowned architect Frank Gehry to design its ground breaking new home. The €130million project will be part of the Gehry-designed City Center Redevelopment Project that will further enhance the district of Miami Beach.

The new world symphony project is set to feature a variable seating (max. 700 seat) recording /webcast /performance space with 360 degree projection capability; a digital music library; 26 individual rehearsal rooms, six ensemble rehearsal rooms and a multi-purpose room, all outfitted with Internet2 technology for long-distance learning; artist suites; Fellow changing rooms; administrative offices and over 100 instrument lockers. The project will also include the addition of a two-acre public park and a 600-plus space public parking garage, both constructed by the City of Miami Beach, adjacent to the campus.

The east facade of the project is a glass curtain which will allow passers by a glimpse of the inside architecture, and a projection wall on which live concerts, master classes, large-scale images and films may be viewed from the new park. The design takes into consideration the growing needs of the orchestral academy, as well as Miami Beach’s signature Art Deco architectural style.
