BDS enters the Indian hospitality market

The property is located in the heritage listed village of Pillaiyar Patty, close to the Karaikudi region, about an hour drive from the city of Madurai. The famous Pillaiyar Patty temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesha, is located next to the proposed site.

It is the second hotel project by Asiana Hotel Management in the state of Tamil Nadu. The project was assigned to Building Design Studios (BDS) late 2007. Considering the location of the site, the Architects have tried to recreate a dense local village scene. The buildings will be located close to each other, separated by narrow tree lined streets. The street scape will be dominated by traditional timber pergolas and colonnades, providing semi private interstitial spaces for all buildings.

The project incorporates 78 rooms including suites, health facilities, a thai style massage and spa centre, a vegetarian restaurant, ballroom and public meeting rooms. It is due to begin construction in May 08.

Design Team: Amarindra Rana, Reuban Paul, Arya Muttu, Gayathri Ravichandran, Jothi Lakshmi.
