Pugh + Scarpa received its second Top Ten Green Project Award from the American Institute of Architects’ Committee on the Environment.

Recognized for its “outstanding sustainable design,” the Solar Umbrella Residence is a bold and sophisticated model for responsible living in the 21st century. Elements of sustainability include passive and active solar design strategies which render the residence 100 percent energy neutral. As Sydney LeBlanc noted in a recent article, “by combining avant-garde aesthetics with sound environmental practices, they’ve blown away the lingering frumpy image that helps keep solar houses out of the mainstream.”
