ikon 5 architects' Arizona State University

Part of a multi-phased development of ASU’s South Campus, Barrett is an academic honors college situated within the larger embrace of ASU. With its own admissions standards and policies, it has the second largest number of National Merit Scholars of any college in the nation. 1700 of the college’s 2800 students will be housed in this multi-courtyard complex that includes academic spaces, social, dining and recreational facilities as well as offices for the college dean and administration. Responding to the sun-severe climate of the Southwest, the architecture will use indigenous materials, such as local stone, and will take advantage of the sophisticated concrete masonry industry in that part of the country. ikon.5 architects are the design architects, with associated architect, DWL of Phoenix, Arizona, under the development leadership of American Campus Communities, one of the nation’s premiere independent developers of residential communities for colleges and universities.
