Herzog and de Meuron’s plans revealed
Herzog and de Meuron is designing a new 64,000 square foot facility for the Parish Art Museum on the east End of Long Island. The design features a series of separate yet interconnected studios, inspired by the studios of the prominent artists who live there, sited in a 14 acre landscape of sea grasses and coastal planting.
The new museum will include ample space for permanent and temporary exhibitions, site-specific installations, artist’s commissions, and time-based media and will contain dedicated education facilities and public spaces as a central lobby, café, auditorium, shop and garden.
Completion is expected in 2009.
