Skidmore, Owings & Merrill gets green light for world class office development in Millennium Quarter
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is pleased to announce that detailed planning permission has been secured for Arrowhead, the 525,000 net square feet office development at, South Quay, London E14.
The Ballymore Properties Limited development is located next to Canary Wharf, and will form a prestigious addition to the area which has been designated the Millennium Quarter* by Tower Hamlets Council.
Arrowhead has been designed to achieve the highest practicable levels of sustainability. The development will set a new standard for London with an innovative climate wall, which will help retain heat in winter but permit natural cooling in summer. It is expected to rate as “excellent” under BREEAM, the established environmental assessment system for buildings in the UK.
The development will comprise a 26 storey building, topped by a green roof, and a 16 storey building, which will feature a rooftop terrace. The scheme will also provide restaurant and retail units on the ground floor with a public plaza facing the water’s edge and the dockside view.
* The Millennium Quarter has been identified as a key development area by London of Tower Hamlets and a focal point for the next phase of regeneration.
The Master Plan Vision is for this area to become part of the new commercial centre in Tower Hamlets focused on Canary Wharf. It will offer a mix of uses, commercial - large and small scale, residential - for sale and rent, leisure, shopping, open spaces and community facilities. It will be an exciting place to live, work and visit for all. The vision for the quarter is to be realised over a 10 - 15 year period.
