A radical departure from the local architecture, has residents' divided over the Clifford house arrival.

Clifford House boarders the bush skyline reserve of Sandy Bay overlooking Hobart's Derwent River. A large 3 dimensional cantilevering steel structure has been extensively clad in aluminium & glass to reflect a lighter transparent form which appears to be hovering above the site. The building's interior fit out takes the form of retractable 'stage sets' which are isolated free from the exterior fenestration thus allowing flexibility of spaces and a virtual 360 degree view of the surrounding landscape from within. Specific attention to the building's environmental and acoustic performances has resulted in an interior space which performs remarkably under all conditions.
