The Larsson House is located near the shores of the Ottawa River in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The owners of the home are a young professional couple who seek to live within a natural environment .
The architectural approach to the home’s ‘natural design’ embraced several concepts including:
Celebrating the natural environment through uniting interior and exterior space; and capturing the sun’s thermal energy in the mass of the radiantly heated concrete floors.
The two storey entry vestibule radiates northerly light in an open stairway, and draws visitors along the circulation core to the south where informal breakfast dining occurs adjacent an intimate easterly morning patio.
The predominant materials are polished concrete floors, drywall, and bamboo hardwood floors. Exterior materials are aluminum glazing, stucco and Prodema wood panels.
