This is a house for a young couple and their children, located in a residential neighborhood in Shizuoka city 200km west of Tokyo. This house is on a corner lot facing streets on two sides and surrounded by typical Japanese residential homes. The house is composed of multiple cubes and has a distinguished 3-dimensional appearance when observed from the street. For the inhabitant, the perimeter brick wall provides appropriate level of privacy while preserving a physical connection between the interior and the exterior of the house. Rooms are arranged around the courtyard and respond in harmony to the others across it.
