With increasing difficulty to afford the high cost of building a quality custom home re4a attempt to change the sub-urban landscape with mass customisation.
By leveraging existing construction methodologies of prefabrication, New York based re4a are designing custom modern homes based on a system of 'Modules of Use.'
These Modules not only accommodate, but also articulate 'Elements of Utility' that are essential to sustain domestic life. The designs incorporate off-the-shelf materials, techniques, and spatial organizational strategies that re4a have employed in their previous residential work.
re4a believe that by combing these strategies of leveraging both prefabricated construction and their experience in efficient urban domestic planning strategies, re4a propose to offer an option of Mass Customization to the fabric of the American domestic sub-urban landscape. The Modern Modular by Resolution: 4 Architecture has received a 2005 American Architecture Award by the Chicago Athenaeum and a 2006 National AIA Housing Award for concepts in Innovative Housing.
