Development Securities and Sheppard Robson have received ‘resolution to grant’ planning for 399 Edgware Road, a unique high quality mixed use development on the existing Oriental City site in Colindale, London NW9. The £200m scheme, a redevelopment of a 7.5 acre site will retain the unique culture and community of the existing Oriental City through implementing is a mix of retail, reintegrating the existing Oriental City centre (30,000m2) and private and affordable residential (50,000m2) accommodation arranged around a series of linked courtyards with an innovatively integrated primary school (3,500m2). The CABE report published in June 2006 stated, “We strongly welcome the model of residential accommodation above retail units and support the proposition of rented retail to enable this. The client should be applauded for his commitment to realising this model and establishing a management strategy that will deal with the different uses and tenures in the development.”
