Architects win America's Cup race against time

UK architects David Chipperfield in conjunction with Barcelona based b720 have pulled off an impressive turnaround by designing and completing this iconic waterside pavilion for the 2007 America’s Cup in just 11 months. The America's Cup was actually won by landlocked Switzerland but agreement was reached to host the next competition in Spain’s third largest city Valencia – home of Calatrava. The pavilion will soon be accessible from the city centre by tram. The building is accessed via a ramp to the ground floor vwhich has a public restaurant and reception area, the first floor houses shops and stunning open-air decks whilst the second and third floors are taken by the Americas Cup organisers and sponsors, Louis Vuitton.
