Competition winners Delugan Meissl, engulf the ideology of film in their Filmmuseum design.

Conceived as a free-standing sculpture on an eye-catching site, the planned Filmmuseum in Amsterdam is completely unique in its appearance. The Filmmuseum is designed as a dynamic entity. Even from afar, the appearance of its crystalline geometry changes perpetually in the shifting play of light. Architecturally, the Filmmuseum addresses the parameters of motion and light that are especially thematically relevant to the medium of film. These become elements that endow the building with a unique identity while enhancing the perception and experience of it on this unique site. The sweeping central “arena” serves as the spatial and functional focal point, and serves as an interface between exterior space and various internal uses. It thereby acts as stage, relaxation zone, point of departure and arrival, bar, café, restaurant, and living area.
