First new-build project: house/office in north London
The house occupies a tiny derelict site at the end of a typical north London Victorian terrace. The peculiar shape of the site and varying boundary conditions give a unique character to each room which is accentuated by the positioning of the windows and expressed materials. Monolithic brick walls with no visible lintels or architraves emphasise the building’s mass. The tension between security and exposure creates a dynamic relationship between private and public realms.
