Mixed use development attacts tenants to central location

Construction of the 5,300 sq m Temple House scheme in New Street, central Birmingham is now complete. Designed by GMW Architects, this mixed-use development increases the residential provision in central Birmingham and complements this with a Tesco Metro food store. The eight-story building provides 3,000 sq m of residential apartments over five levels in 52 one and two bedroom units. These are set around an open internal courtyard and are clad in modular terracotta panels. At upper levels, the building steps back to provide balconies for the apartments and to respond to the scale of neighbouring buildings. Tesco Metro occupy 2,300 sq m of retail accommodation on the three lower levels, which are predominantly clad in a glazed, curtain wall.
