Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber opened Coop Himmelblau‘s new academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany today. The practice won the competition in 1992, in which 178 architects’ offices participated. Wolf D. Prix, senior architect of the Viennese office said "We dreamed of this building nearly 15 years ago and are very happy now to see that this dream has become a reality." The central courtyard of the technically complex building ranges in height over all storeys and is generously illuminated by a roof and wall facade. The building will house administration of the academy and all the artistic workshops.
