B3 Designers are delighted to have completed the redesign of the award winning audio post production company Wave, including personalised studios and new reception hub.
Our Director Mark Bithrey provides insight into this ‘dream' project brief: "We were tasked with creating a relaxed interior for stressed clients and a comfortable working environment for staff. The design needed to fit the requirements of the space not just in form, but also in function. An enduring design that would be relevant and attractive in years to come was the overarching theme.
"We responded to the brief creating an enduring and comfortable space, with a relaxed and lived in vibe, where Wave clients and staff enjoy spending time."
The reception, described as ‘the hub of the space', was completely restructured and opened up. By removing internal walls, previously blocked windows were revealed allowing natural light to flood in. This flexible space suits many functions; a brainstorming workspace, a kitchen, social eating space and also a lounge style waiting area for producers and directors.
A reclaimed timber wall creates a warm tapestry behind the reception desk. This is complemented by exposed wooden floorboards, which give the space a light and informal feel. The retro chaise longue, sofa and armchair sit invitingly around a classic vintage coffee table scattered with magazines. The exposed ceiling shows off the industrial factory lighting to great effect. A waney edged Dutch Elm table creates a pivotal point in the centre of the reception. An antique Cadbury's Chocolate display case showcases the many awards won by Wave.
The new meeting room features a glass and tarnished steel, window-effect, door helping maintain the open plan feel yet providing a soundproof space for privacy when required. The chevron patterned wooden floor and exposed brickwork add a sense of warmth.
