Copperhill Mountain Lodge is an alpine, first-class design hotel, located at 730 m above sea level in Åre. In architecture of world class gathers the enjoyment of all senses, with magnificent views over the mountain world and Åreskutan, all in close proximity to slopes, activities and the wilderness.
The building has been designed by the American architect Peter Bohlin at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson – also known to have designed the Apple Stores and Bill Gates private residence. The interiors are designed by Koncept, a Stockholm-based architecture- and design office, with several design awards for unique environments. Together they have created a world class hotel, unique in the Scandinavian mountains. The building is constructed in wood and natural stone, with some elements in glass and metal. Traditional lodge architecture with very modern details. The interiors are characterized by large open spaces, rustic materials and generous windows facing the mountains. Local influences and the historical connection with the site, mostly Åreskutans era of copper mining and the Lappish culture, permeates the in other respects modern interiors. Local materials like slate and pine are used in combination with warm tones from copper, leather and textiles.
The 112 suites are furnished in a warm, modern way with rustic materials, most with a balcony or terrace, with exceptional views. The Spa – Level – is an exotic overall experience with treatments, pool, and sauna with panoramic views, outdoor Jacuzzi, and a gym. Its specialty “SameZen” is Lapp-inspired treatment using birch oil and warm stones in treatment rooms designed to resemble the Lapp Cots. The lounge bar’s and slope restaurant’s furnishing and design has been created using historical influences. There is a Lapp-cot which houses a children’s cinema for the youngest guests. The interior and furnishing is weaved together with copper that flecks everything from the bathroom tiles to the receptions lights to the small battalion of pendant shades.
