RTKL create a luxury interior for Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas.
Spanning 1,200 feet, Oasis of the Seas is the largest cruise ship in the world. When Royal Caribbean set out to create a new standard in the luxury cruise market, it turned to RTKL for interior architecture and design for the ship’s public areas and two of its showcase amenities: the elegant, three-deck Opus main dining room, and Casino Royale, the ship’s French Riviera-inspired gaming hall.
In addition to being the world's largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas offers the most dining venues of any ship. The dining centerpiece is the 71,150-SF Opus Dining Room which features three independently-operating restaurants spanning three decks. With the capacity to serve up to 3,300 guests, the dining room’s diverse spaces provide a variety of seating choices and dining experiences. Inspired by the grandeur of the 1920's, the room’s design masterfully revives classic Art Deco elements from the luxury ocean liners of the era with a contemporary and timeless finish. The room is distinguished by a dramatic three-story atrium crowned by a grand crystal chandelier flanked by crescent platforms suspended on each side.
Elegant and sophisticated, the 20,500-SF Casino Royale offers unparalleled levels of luxury, service and glamour. The casino features 450 gaming machines, 27 gaming tables, and a décor filled with dramatic sculptures, crystal chandeliers and rich jewel-toned hues. Passengers enter through one of two themed walkways, exploring either the history of gaming, or the 40-year legacy of Royal Caribbean International. To maximize the number of gaming machines, RTKL carefully choreographed every inch of the interior space—creating an environment that evokes energy, excitement and an expression of the brand.
