Studiofibre, the dynamic design studio that develops exceptional spaces and bespoke furniture for the global offices of brands including Net-a-Porter, Farfetch and notonthehighstreet.com, is now launching a retail capsule collection of contemporary furniture, making pieces available to consumers for the first time.
A trio of cutting-edge, hand-crafted plywood pieces, the Stack Bureau, the Pretzel Rocker and the Loop Stool are all available to purchase by special order via their website. Ian & Fiona Livingston of Studiofibre were so inspired by the positive feedback they received from their clients about the furniture they created for each individual scheme, they were inspired to create a consumer range. The trio of pieces comprising the launch collection are all classic concepts that have been given a Studiofibre twist, being reworked in a highly contemporary style and crafted in a modern high grade plywood. The Pretzel Rocker, Loop Stool and Stack Bureau are all crafted from composite boards of ply which have been developed, shaped and totally transformed into beautifully simple pieces which celebrate the end grain of the material and elevate it to a luxurious level.
The Stack Bureau desk provides the antidote to the typical home-office chaos of adaptors, wires and clutter. Reinventing the traditional partner desk, it is crafted from a series of birch plywood ‘containers’, inspired by the stacked storage boxes that many of us have piled up in our home offices. Integrated cable management ensures a minimal, sleek look is maintained and a vertical box houses a PC. The bureau is characterized by restrained detailing, such as the highlighted end-grain of the plywood visible in the handcrafted mitred corner junctions. The bureau can be built up to look clean and ordered, or stacked up randomly depending on the aesthetic required. Different colours and wood finishes are available by special order.
The Pretzel Rocker was inspired by a classic rocking chair. Determined to reimagine the comforting movement of a rocking chair within the elegant design of daybed, Fiona and Ian were influenced by the organic shape of a pretzel. The ultra-modern Pretzel Rocker was born – a quirky twist on a design-classic which exposes the beauty of the plywood. The loop stool is drawn from a similar inspiration, taking a simple but fluid form and creating a piece that is as useful as it is aesthetically appealing.
“We were fascinated by the idea of taking a basic material such as plywood and crafting it into something special. Our design projects often challenge us to turn a very ordinary area into a dramatic, beautiful and functional space that celebrates the luxury brand occupying it. We achieve this in bricks and mortar with creative design, and wanted to apply the same principle to furniture – creating something beautiful out of something quite ordinary.” - Ian Livingston, Co-Founder – Studiofibre
Studiofibre furniture is characterised by its own Four Cs which underpin its quality and appeal: Creativity, Craftsmanship, Classic concepts and a Contemporary twist.
