The Net series is the latest creation of Abie Abdillah from Studiohiji. Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, Abie Abdillah is passionate about working with rattan, a material which is sourced responsibly within Indonesia; the world's largest producer of natural rattan.
The Net series consists of lightweight pieces with a contemporary design that aims to reform perceptions of, and rekindle interests in, rattan as a material. The exposed joinery, the doing away with the traditional use of binding and the combination of rattan with metal; are features that are made possible through the handiwork of skilled craftsmen and set the collection apart from perceived notions of rattan furniture.
The Net series consist of chairs, a coffee table and a side table with metal and fabric components and is available in a variety of bold colours. Studiohiji's collection is now available in Singapore and the rest of Southeast Asia at For The Common Goods.
