Dots

Aris Architects recently designed a new product for Polarislife, a well-established industrial firm who specialise in contemporary kitchens. DOTS bookshelf is an eye-catching modular storage system, conceived as a fitted vertical space which can be adapted to any environment.

The bookshelf is composed of a modular system with panels to which small wooden cylinders are attached according to a regular grid-style pattern. This composition allows for the user to individually customize their shelf, using easily interchangeable boxes which render the space extremely flexible, and make it new and variable at any time. The boxes slot within the rows of wooden cylinders and can be moved for more or less storage as the user desires.

Where there are no boxes, a dotted geometrical pattern is left, making DOTS an aesthetically pleasing, minimal piece for any wall in the home. The product has won the Red Dot Design Award 2014 in the category of interior design elements and is also being exhibited at the Red Dot Museum in Singapore.
